Group Draw & Tournament Simulator

You Asked, We Listened: The World Cup 2026 Group Draw Simulator is Back!

It was the feature that started it all. Long before the official groups for the FIFA World Cup 2026 were announced, we launched this website with a singular purpose: to give football fans the power to experience the thrill of the draw themselves. Our Group Draw Simulator was the heart of this project, allowing hundreds of thousands of you to run countless simulations, debate "Groups of Death," and dream about your nation's path to glory.

Then, the official draw happened. With the 12 groups set in stone, we made a logical choice: we retired the simulator and replaced it with a display of the official groups. It seemed like the sensible thing to do.

We were wrong.

Almost immediately, the messages started pouring in. "Where did the draw simulator go?" "I loved running different scenarios!" "Can you please bring it back?" You told us that even with the official groups known, the magic of the draw—the infinite possibilities and the "what if" scenarios—was something you still wanted to explore.

You asked, and we listened. Today, we are thrilled to announce that the original World Cup 2026 Group Draw Simulator is back and better than ever!

The Power of "What If?"

Why bring back a draw simulator when the real draw is already done? Because the conversation around the World Cup isn't just about what is, but also what could have been. The beauty of football lies in its endless permutations, and our simulator is the ultimate tool for exploring them.

Fans have been using it to answer fascinating questions:

  • What if the pot seedings were different? How would the groups change if a team had moved up or down a pot?
  • Creating the ultimate "Group of Death": What is the absolute toughest group imaginable based on the 48 qualified teams?
  • Simulating an easier path: What would a dream draw for your home nation look like?
  • Exploring rival fates: See what kind of group your biggest rivals could have ended up in.
  • Understanding the process: The simulator is a powerful educational tool that demystifies the complex rules of the World Cup draw.

The official draw is just one version of reality. The simulator gives you the keys to every other possible universe.

How the Draw Simulator Works: A Refresher

For our new fans and for those who need a refresher, our simulator is a detailed recreation of the official FIFA draw process. It adheres to all the complex rules and constraints to ensure every simulation you run is a plausible outcome.

1. The Team Pots

Just like the real thing, the 48 qualified teams are distributed into four pots based on their FIFA rankings. Pot 1 contains the top-seeded teams and the three host nations (USA, Mexico, and Canada), while Pot 4 contains the lowest-seeded teams.

*Teams are arranged into four pots based on seeding, forming the foundation of the draw.*

2. The Draw Constraints

This is where the magic happens. The simulator automatically enforces all the official FIFA draw constraints:

  • Host Placement: The three hosts are pre-assigned to specific groups to ensure they play their group matches at home.
  • Confederation Clashes: With the exception of Europe, teams from the same confederation cannot be drawn into the same group.
  • European Limit: A maximum of two European teams can be in any single group.

Our engine handles all of this in the background, so you can be sure that the groups you generate are fair and realistic. For a deeper dive into the mechanics, you can read our guide on the World Cup group stage and draw process.

From Draw to Destiny: Simulate the Entire Tournament

The fun doesn't stop once the groups are drawn. Your custom draw is just the beginning. After you've simulated your ideal (or most chaotic) group stage, you can take it one step further.

A single click on "Simulate Group Stage" will advance you to the group stage simulation based on the very groups you just created.

You can then simulate the entire group stage and the knockout stage, from the brand-new Round of 32 all the way to the final, to see which team emerges as champion in your alternate reality. Who wins the World Cup in a universe where Germany and Brazil are in the same group? Now you can find out.
